    Autumn 1

In Year 3, we have an exciting year of learning and discovery ahead!

This term, we’ve been travelling back in time in history to explore life from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We’ve learnt how early humans lived, hunted, and built homes and how their tools and ways of life changed over thousands of years. We have enjoyed investigating what daily life might have been like, comparing it to how we live today. We created our own cave art just like the Stone Age!

In English, we explored performance poetry through the poem What Teachers Wear to Bed. We looked at how poems can be brought to life using expression, actions, voice and different ways of performing. We then used our creativity and imagination to write our own stanzas, inspired by the original poem. We had lots of fun experimenting with words, rhyme and rhythm before sharing our own performances!

In PE, we explored the exciting themes of travelling and gymnastics. We developed our movement skills by experimenting with different ways of travelling, balancing and creating shapes with our bodies. We practised a range of gymnastic movements, focusing on control, coordination and confidence. We also used our creativity to put movements together into short sequences, showing off our skills!

In Computing this year, Year 3 have been learning about networks and the internet. We explored how computers and other devices connect to each other, how we use the internet to find information and communicate, and how data is shared between devices. We also learnt about the importance of staying safe online and using the internet responsibly. The children have enjoyed developing their understanding of how technology helps us in everyday life!

Year 3 is all about building confidence, curiosity, and creativity. We can’t wait to see all the fantastic things our pupils will achieve this year!
