  • Assessment

Teachers assess children’s learning continuously through high-quality questioning, feedback and observation. This ongoing, formative assessment helps us to plan lessons that build on what pupils already know and can do.

We also carry out summative assessments at key points during the year to check progress and identify any gaps in understanding. These assessments are recorded and analysed using Sonar Tracker, giving teachers and leaders a clear overview of achievement across the school.

    This system allows us to:

    • Track progress and attainment for individuals, groups and cohorts
    • Identify pupils who may need additional support or greater challenge
    • Share clear, meaningful information with parents and carers through Pupil Progress Meetings about how their child is doing

At Cheetwood, our aim is for assessment to be supportive, purposeful, and empowering — helping every child to know what they are learning, where they are going next and how to get there.
