In history, we have been learning about life in Roman Britain and how the Romans changed Britain. The children really enjoyed designing and making their own Roman shields, which helped them understand how Roman soldiers lived and defended themselves.
In PE, children have been developing their gymnastics skills by practising symmetrical balances and improving their control and stability. They enjoyed using the equipment safely to create and perform a range of balances, building confidence, strength, and coordination.
This term, Year 3 have been enjoying the story 'Cloud Tea Monkeys' in English. Through the book, they learnt about life on tea farms and explored the importance of Fairtrade. The class also discovered how tea is grown and made in different parts of the world, comparing tea production across the globe. The children particularly trying and rating different teas from across the globe!
In Geography, children have been learning about countries around the world. They explored the names and locations of different countries, using maps, globes and atlases to support their learning. The children developed their map-reading skills and learnt about continents and oceans, making links between where countries are and what they are like. They really enjoyed discovering countries, sharing what they already knew, and building a better understanding of the world we live in.
In Design and Technology, the children have been learning about food preparation and healthy eating by creating their own fruit tarts. They designed their tarts, carefully selected ingredients and practised skills such as chopping, mixing and assembling. The children loved the hands-on experience and really enjoyed being creative with flavours and designs. They were especially proud of their finished fruit tarts and enjoyed sharing and evaluating their work.
This term, we’ve been travelling back in time in history to explore life from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We’ve learned how early humans lived, hunted, and built homes and how their tools and ways of life changed over thousands of years. We have enjoyed investigating what daily life might have been like, comparing it to how we live today.
In Art, we’ve been developing our sketching skills, learning how to use shading, line, and texture to bring our drawings to life. We especially enjoyed sketching leaves, studying their shapes and patterns closely to capture all the little details.
In English, we’re diving into the world of storytelling with “I’ll Take You to Mrs Cole’s”. We’ve explored the characters, setting, and themes, and used the story to inspire our own writing. One of our favourite activites was creating freeze frames, helping us to think more deeply about emotions, actions and motivations before writing our own descrptive pieces.
In PE, we’ve been working on our football skills. The children have been learning how to dribble, pass and control the ball with increasing accuracy and confidence. We have also been learning the importance of working in a team, learning the importance of communication, fair play and good sportsmanship!
