Nursery

Autumn 2

We’ve had a super busy, fun-packed Autumn term full of smiles, learning, and exciting adventures!

This term, we’ve had an amazing time diving into the wonders of autumn through our much-loved stories Percy the Park Keeper and Wow! Said the Owl. The children became curious explorers as we discovered woodland habitats, learnt about different animals that live there, and observed how nature changes during autumn. From falling leaves and crisp colours to busy creatures preparing for winter, our learning was full of excitement, imagination, and hands-on discovery.

It has been a joyful term of storytelling, exploration, and seasonal wonder!

The children have been developing their maths skills by being introduced to the number 2, even heading off on an exciting number 2 hunt around the classroom to find two objects the same. Learning can always be active, playful and full of discovery!  We have also had so much fun exploring patterns and developing our skills on being able to create our own unique patterns! Alongside this, we’ve had lots of energetic fun in our multi-skills sessions, practising our ball skills and working on our balancing. The children showed fantastic teamwork, cheering each other on and learning to work together as a team while building confidence and coordination. It’s been a wonderfully active and engaging term!

In PE, we always work together, cheering each other on, and helping our friends as we move, play, and learn as one happy team!

Our nursery children are little maths geniuses, joyfully practising their skills as they explore, count, and problem-solve throughout the learning environment!

Next term, We’ll be heading off on an exciting adventure to explore different habitats, discovering both hot and cold places around the world! We’ll journey to Antartica to learn all about penguins through our story I Can Fly, and then travel to Africa to explore amazing animals with the story Handa’s Surprise.

Autumn 1

This term in Nursery has been full of smiles, laughter and new beginnings. The children have shown such confidence and joy as they've settled into nursery life.

This half term, our focus has been on helping the children settle in, establish routines, develop independence in self-care, and build positive relationships with others. It’s been lovely to see their confidence grow as they’ve become familiar with the classroom environment and daily routines.

Our topic, All About Me, has been a wonderful way for the children to learn more about themselves and each other. Through the stories Happy to Be Me and Pete the Cat, we’ve celebrated what makes each of us special and shared our likes, dislikes, and family stories. The children have enjoyed talking about their favourite things, creating self-portraits, and exploring what makes them unique. It’s been a fantastic start to the year, full of confidence-building, friendship, and pride in who we are!

We have been developing our fine motor skills in the crafts area!

We’ve had such an exciting term! Our outdoor area has had a makeover, and the children have absolutely loved exploring the new wooden climbing and balancing equipment. There’s been lots of giggles, teamwork, and adventurous play! We’ve also been getting active in our Multi-Skills sessions with Manchester City — practising our climbing, balancing, ball skills, and coordination. It’s been a super busy term full of fun, new challenges, and amazing progress — we couldn’t be prouder of our little superstars!

Busy bodies and big smiles! The children loved exploring the balance beams, building their strength, coordination, and confidence.

Halloween fun in action! The children loved hammering golf tees into pumpkins — a perfect mix of creativity, curiosity, and fine motor practice!

Next half term, we’re very excited to be exploring the wonderful season of autumn! Through our focus stories Percy the Park Keeper: Hide and Seek and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, the children will discover the many changes that happen during this colourful time of year. They’ll also enjoy an autumn walk around our school grounds, collecting leaves, spotting autumn colours, and exploring the natural environment first-hand. It’s set to be another fun-filled term, bursting with curiosity, adventure, and learning through play!
